Adventures in Writing: The To-Do List

Adventures in Writing

Last night I spent time reworking the book pages and adding another one for the titles that don’t fit into the series pages. And, of course, that means there’s now a to-do sticky post-it on my desktop. I hate to-do lists. Shopping lists, those I like… more often than not. Even when it’s just grocery shopping (Note to self: BUY CREAMER!) because the excitement of eating delicious food is too much to pass up. If you don’t know how to cook, learn. And don’t learn by watching shows like Master Chef or Hell’s Kitchen – they aren’t teaching you to cook. Watch Food Network or Youtube. Follow a recipe. When you can follow a recipe, you can cook. And once you can follow several recipes, you can learn how to swap out ingredients and seasonings.

So, my to-do list. I need to get Fix-It Fast 6 – 9 and the Bundle up on Smashwords. It doesn’t sound difficult or like a lot of work, but trust me – it is. I have to make sure that their version follows their guidelines and they have strict guidelines. They’re mostly regarding formatting, which means I have to go through to make sure every paragraph doesn’t have an errant space after punctuation. Not difficult, but a real pain in the ass.

I’ve taken Knead out of Kindle Unlimited, so I plan to put that up on Smashwords as well. So much fun! I also need to put up Public Affairs and Blackmailed Supervisor. I have my work cut out for me, that’s for sure. Hopefully, it won’t be too bad. There’s also another important list I need to make. Yes, I have on my to-do list to make a list. A list of items for the trip to Smuttylicious Island for the Sisters in Smut “Convention”. (Dr. J. keeps using that word… – insert Princess Bride gif here. No, I’m not really going to insert a gif… quit looking at the screen like it’s going to magically appear. Okay, fine, here’s your gif.)

Happy? Anyway. We’re down to SINGLE DIGITS for the trip! NINE DAYS!

So every night this week, I’m going to do my damnedest to do the following things: An hour or so of cleaning. Formatting and uploading a title or two to Smashwords (depending on how much formatting needed, which shouldn’t be much because I had been formatting them to SW’s guidelines even for Amazon). Tonight I have to go to the store. I need coffee creamer. Hell, I may go out of my way to find my Bailey’s Irish Creamer because holy fuck, my coffee kind of super sucks without it. I also ended up ordering food last night because I did not realize just how BARE my refrigerator has become. It’s crazy!

What are you doing? What are you avoiding on your To-Do List? What are you excited about doing? (I mean, seriously, I am super excited to make a list of things I need to remember for the Smuttylicious Island Convention.)

  1. My lover lives by lists. I am not a fan. If I must be honest, I often lose them. But, with a long, rainy day stretching out before me, I made a list consisting mostly of writing project odds and ends. And, while waiting for my better half to return from the gym/coffee run, I open up to Twitter and discover you’ve been up to the same thing. Oh. And while visiting the island, maybe you’ll luck out and get a tour of my clean and bare fridge! (We like it that way.)

    1. I dislike lists myself, except grocery lists. If I don’t have a list I buy out the store. I’m trying (again) to be more organized so my creativity flows easier. I’m trying to be better at this self-published author thing. I honestly want to work at it. I want to put out quality. I want to rewrite the Supervisor Saga. But that’s possibly never going to happen.
